A Busy Mom
As a busy mom of 3 ages 6 and under, I know what it’s like to be on the go and “living” out of the car on occasion. We jokingly refer to our car as our second home, and I sometimes I tell the kids it’s time to clean our “other house.”
Anyway, on those days when I am running many errands, I try to think ahead in a few different ways.
- What is my route to save on gas and not make extra trips going back and forth in town?
- Do I have my ads and coupons ready to go? After I look at the ads for the week, they go right in the car so I am always prepared. Also, I keep a small coupon organizer (or 2 actually) in my purse.
- Will we be out during snack time or a meal? If so, I try to bring snacks so we aren’t always going through the Mickie D’s drive-thru.
- (3. and 4. are connected and I believe has saved me hundreds of dollars) OR should I try to feed the fam a meal or a snack before leaving?
- Do we have an extra set of clothes, diapers and wipes for the baby?
Thinking ahead in life is so important.
I OFTEN talk to my piano students about that. Have they practiced enough so they are prepared for the next lesson? While they are playing a piece, are they looking ahead to give their brains time to process the notes and execute them with accuracy? I relate piano to life: are we thinking ahead in life so we can use the resources God has given us? Are we being good stewards with our time and money? With the way we eat? Are we honoring the Lord in everything we do?
1 Cor. 10:31 “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
