Tonight I did give clean and press “ladders” followed by some swings.
Some of the workouts I’m going to be doing the next four weeks or so are from Russian Kettlebell specialist Pavel Tsatsouline’s book Enter the Kettlebell. Hopefully someday soon I’ll do a review of the book for your benefit. Anyway, back to the workout for today.
A “ladder” is where you do – in this case – one C&P with the left hand, then one with the right, then two with the left, then two with the right. That’s where I stopped tonight; later I’ll be working up to five “rungs” on my ladders, Lord willing. Bit I’m going to go heavier later on this week and wanted some in the tank for the heavy day anyway, so it’s just as well that I only went to 2 reps.
When I had done five ladders, I rolled a couple of dice to see how many minutes I’d be doing my swings. I rolled a six and a two, so I’d be swinging my 53# KB for eight minutes, going about 70-80% effort. Again, that’s to keep some in the tank for the heavy day on Saturday when I’ll swing like a crazed orangutan.
So the shoulders feel great, and I got a bit of a sweat going, but nothing too crazy.
