The 2 Week Eating Challenge
Do you find yourself eating just to eat or because the food tastes good, even though you are full? Do you ever find yourself eating because you are bored? Well, if I’d like to offer a challenge for the next two weeks: Start listening to your body when you are eating, and stop eating when you are satisfied. That’s it. There is a difference between eating to the point of being full and the point of being satisfied. This can significantly help with weight loss.
After being married for 4 years, I had gained 10 pounds. I looked “poofy,” as I call it. The year I started listening to my body, 2003, I lost 10 lbs. It seemed like I didn’t even do anything to lose the weight; I just became aware of how full I was feeling. Now I hardly ever get to the point of feeling stuffed. When I am hungry I grab a snack. I eat breakfast, a late morning snack, lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner, and dessert. We keep healthier snacks in the home. I stop eating when I am satisfied.
Jonathan is great about eating until he is satisfied. He will often verbalized after eating a meal, “I still want more food.” He waits 10 minutes, and then if he still is hungry, he will grab some more food.
Give it a shot and see if you feel deprived. I’ll bet that you won’t feel deprived, but you may feel more confident that you weren’t a slave to your food.
Just two weeks. Does this seem doable? Do you want to take the challenge? If yes, let us know in a comment below.
