Kettlebell Snatch Practice and Swings for Conditioning

I return this week to my kettlebell snatch practice.  It was practice, to be sure, but I got a good workout in the process.  My goal is to get to 100 snatches with a 53# kettlebell in five minutes or less.  There are a few ways to get there, and I’m still a long way from that goal, but read on to see what I did this morning.

Workout:

8 minute countdown:

6 kettlebell snatches – Left

6 kettlebell snatches – Right

Each round comprised about 27 seconds’ work and 33 seconds’ rest.  I actually felt really strong even though I was working out on an empty stomach.  Perhaps the Super Bowl dietary decadence was reaping positive dividends this morning in the form of a surge in energy.  It felt great.

After the snatch practice, I did about 120 kettlebell swings in five minutes with the 53# bell; I used a 20 seconds’ work/10 seconds’ rest protocol.  It was similar to the Tabata protocol, but I went for five minutes rather than the typical four minutes for a Tabata.

I’ll keep you posted as to my progress!
