Kettlebell Snatches, Pull-ups, Pushups, and Squats

On Monday I continued the snatch practice and then followed it with the old standby trio of pull-ups, pushups and squats.  I’m working toward ripping off 100 snatches with a 53# kettlebell in under five minutes.  This is my second week in actually working toward that goal explicitly.  This time around, I shaved a minute off of last week and added a rep per round.  Read on for more. Workout:

A) 7-minute Countdown: 7 Kettlebell Snatches – Left 7 Kettlebell Snatches – Right

B) Five Rounds: 5 Pull-ups 20 Pushups 30 Squats

For the countdown, that means that when the seconds read double-zeros, I did seven snatches with the left hand then seven with the right.  I did that for seven minutes.  I rested about three minutes between part A and part B. Between rounds in part B, I rested about one minute. By the end, my heart was pounding pretty well, and the legs were pretty wobbly.

I was surprised that chasing the snatches with pull-ups was as “easy” as it was.  They both require a lot of pulling, but the pull-ups felt pretty solid.  It’ll be interesting to see how I feel tomorrow.
