On Wednesday I enjoyed my workout from the confines of my home office. A few days ago I bought one of those fancy-schmancy pull-up bars that you can install in a doorway. This enables me to do pull-ups (and as such, more complete workouts) from someplace other than my garage. Take, for instance, this…
Seven rounds:
Kettlebell Clean and Press – 4 reps Left
Kettlebell Clean and Press – 4 reps Right
Kettlebell Swings – 20 reps
Pull-ups – 7/6/5/4/3/3/8 reps
In truth, I overestimated this workout. It was easier than I anticipated. I could have gone with more reps on the C&P’s and the pull-ups. I actually did 8 reps left and right on the C&P’s and 8 reps on the pull-ups on the last round.
But that’s okay. I don’t have to kill myself on every workout. I don’t tend to work to failure in any of my workouts, but I also try to do pull-ups and other movements throughout the day. Part of leading an active lifestyle involves getting exercise in a variety of ways at a variety of times (park far away from the store so you’re forced to walk, take the stairs over the elevator, don’t walk past a pull-up bar without doing five reps, etc.), so I don’t beat myself up if I actually have some energy and strength still in the tank at the end of a training session.
