Thrifty Thinking: Eating Out with Coupons
As much as I LOVE creating our meals, it’s a special treat to go out and eat. I admit it’s nice to have someone else make the meal, and then clean it up, too!! Jonathan and I had a date night a few weeks ago and were going to the Mae Phim Restaurant in Marysville, WA. As we got out of the car and were walking toward the restaurant, I realized I didn’t have a coupon with me for the restaurant. Then I realized we should check our Hometown Values Magazine that I always have in our car, and voila, there was a coupon for a “buy 1 get 1 half off”. That worked out to be $4.50 off our bill. I’ll take that any day.
By the way, every time we get the Hometown Values Magazine in the mail, I look over it twice to see all the great deals, and then the next time I go out to the car, I make sure it goes with me and put it with my ads in the car. That way I am ready if we are out and about and I want a coupon.
What’s great is that Hometown Values also has an on-line version, too, www.MyHometownValues.com. It’s quite handy because it can be used to print local restaurant and grocery coupons on a home computer or on a Smart Phone (Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone or iPhone). Also, there is now a FREE iphone app (search Hometown Values at App Store). The mobile web and app allow consumers to see coupons in neighboring markets as well. For example, if you live in Marysville, WA, you only see the ads in the Marysville edition of HTV that comes in your home mail box. However, the mobile web allows you to see coupons from neighboring Lake Stevens, Arlington, Everett, etc. We’ve been out of Marysville and have been able to find a coupon for our desired restaurant in Snohomish about 13 miles away on the phone! Since Hometown Values Coupon Magazine has 25 different editions in the Puget Sound, it’s worth checking the mobile web and re-set the focal point so you can see coupons in that town. Hometown Values is in 13 states, so see if your state and local area has an edition.
So regardless of where you live, take a look at your local coupons. Make a place to store your ads and coupons in your car if you don’t already. Make it easy for you to use them.
