DIY Bell Wreath
IT’S DIY TIME, WHERE I POST SOMETHING YOU CAN DO YOURSELF RATHER THAN BUY, WHICH IS A MONEY SAVER, AND CAN BE VERY REWARDING. SOME OF THESE POSTS ARE CRAFTS, SEWING PROJECTS, HOMEMADE CLEANERS, HOMEMADE HEALTH AIDS, TUTORIALS, AND THE LIKE.
Do you ever make Christmas decorations? Ever so often I get a hankering to change things up, especially as my decorations have grown weary, fraying and unraveling…ready to be retired. So I’ve determined to freshen up our Christmas decoration collection. It’s been over five years since I’ve really Christmas-crafted for our home. Oh yes, we’ve done little handmade gifts here and there. But my inspiration to create has been revived this year by going to Leavenworth, a cute little Bavarian-themed town in Eastern Washington for their annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Literally it’s like we were in a Hallmark Christmas movie with the town brilliantly illuminated and the snow gently falling on our quiet cabin morning in the wonderful woods of Eastern Washington.
Another inspiration is my neighbor, and she doesn’t even know it. You see my neighbor has a very cool silver bell wreath. And she doesn’t know that I’ve been admiring her bell wreath gracing her door for the last few years with each lap I jog in our cul-de-sac. So I thought it was time to make my own.
I made this wreath for super cheap by buying the wreath and bells at the Dollar Tree.
What you’ll need:
- a plain wreath form with greenery (my wreath is 10 inches in diameter end to end)
- bells with ties
I think the smaller the wreath, the easier this wreath is to make. Make sure your bell size looks appropriately proportioned with the size of your wreath. I have a wreath that is two feet in diameter, and in my opinion, it’s way to big to make this bell wreath. Instead I just wrapped green Christmas lights around it. Though my neighbor’s wreath is much bigger than my wreath pictured here, her bells are also bigger and fit well.
And honestly, this bell wreath really doesn’t need a tutorial. Just tie each bell to the wreath form. You can see where I needed to cut and/or tuck the golden ties in. I had three green bells to each one silver bell.
What are your Christmas projects? One of my favorites is Hanging Ornament Clusters. They are sooo easy to make too!
