Today I worked out with an old standby: the clean & jerk.
15 rounds of just one rep, doing about one round per minute. I lifted 155#.
Not too much to report. It is great, explosive lift (great for those fast-twitch muscles) and – if I’m honest – I didn’t go heavy enough; I had plenty in the tank at the end (not that that is a bad thing). But I hadn’t done C&J’s in a while, so it was good to lift a manageable weight and focus on my form and technique.
One reminder on technique: don’t approach Olympic lifts half-cocked. You can injure yourself, which is bad. But using proper technique will generally enable you to put up more weight rather than just fudging and wiggling out the rep. That’s when you’ll hurt yourself.
