Today was my “heavy” day, where I did the same workout as Wednesday, but my ladders went up to three reps, and I did as many swings as possible in 8 minutes (and it was 8 minutes because that’s what my roll of the dice happened to be: 8). So again, the two parts were…
- 5 clean and press ladders (up to 3 reps) with a 53# KB
- As many reps as possible in 8 minutes: 53# KB swings
Now, I was shooting for 300 reps on the swings, but I ended up with 201. I was a bit disappointed, but there’s not much you can do when you hit grip failure and you’re swinging a 53# cannon ball in your family room. If I waited until complete grip failure, I might be dislodging the kettlebell from the east wall of my house rather than typing this post. My glutes, hams and back felt tired, but not wiped out; they had more in the tank. The grip was definitely my weakest link tonight.
But knowing I can do 200 KB swings in 8 minutes gives me a good baseline. I’ll beat it next time.
For a refresher on the ladders, here’s Wednesday’s workout, where I went into it in greater detail.
