Recycling & Repurposing Part 4: Tablecloth to Wrapping “Paper”

Wrapping Awkward Gifts w a Re-purposed Table Cloth

Wrapping Bulky Gifts with Re-purposed Tablecloths

Do you ever have those large, awkward, hard-to-wrap gifts?  My Great Aunt Fran, a former Home Economics Teacher gave us a big high chair.  She wrapped it in a plastic table cloth.  I thought this was a great idea!  This year my older kids are getting legos under the tree, and it’s a bit of an awkward size, so I thought the plastic table cloth would be perfect!  Just add a nice bow, and you’re all set.

My bow is a little off….

The great thing about using tablecloths is that they can be used year after year!

Here is another one….I like to wrap them like a  big piece of hard candy!

  1. This is a nice idea. We’ve used plastic tablecloths from a birthday party over and over for our painting projects.

  2. I’ve done that! Whenever I attend a holiday party with one of those flimsy “disposable” tablecloths, I try to hang around and help clean up so I can make sure that tablecloth is getting reused–by me, if nobody else takes it. Most food spills come off them easily with a damp cloth.

    1. Hey ‘Becca, I was at a party this summer and someone was throwing away disposable tablecloths, and I thought, ‘I should ask for them’, and I didn’t. I will next time, since now I can’t forget that instance. I used one again this year and wrapped a gift like a big piece of hard candy. I think it looks so cute! Thanks for sharing!

  3. I bought some gift tags from a craft show that were made from cards…they were so cute. I will have to show them to you.

  4. This is genius! I bought my nephews an awkward to wrap present and I was wondering how I would wrap it! Now I know! Thank you!!!
