The Six Minute Workout

Can you really get a great workout in 6 minutes?  I say, “YES, YES, YES!!”  I asked Jonathan to prescribe for me a 6-minute bodyweight workout at 9:30pm because I hadn’t exercised for almost 2 days, and I didn’t want to feel like I was having a slothful snow day.  Bodyweight, because I wanted to do it in my bedroom and not use any equipment.

One of the great things about a 6 minute workout is, even if it’s hard, it’s over in just 6 minutes.  Plus this workout has one and a half minutes of strategically placed rests, so really you are only working  for 4 minutes and 30 seconds.  I also love that you never have to do a particular exercise more than once.  Give it a shot!  I was tired when I was done, and in the middle, but now I feel great!!

Workout:

Do each of the following exercises for 45 seconds, followed by 15 seconds’ rest:

Pushups

Squats

Mountain Climbers

Lunges

Plank

Burpees

The idea is to get as much work done with good form as you possibly can in the allotted 45 seconds.

Modification Ideas: Really we don’t have any excuses not to get our bodies moving, unless we are sick, have broken bones or something along those lines.  You can go 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off or 15 seconds on and 45 seconds off.  Just try something.  I bet you’ll love it like we do!!
