Okay, this might be weird for some. You can think I’m weird, and that’s okay. I love to give new life to old, worn out items, items you mights deem TRASH. Yes, I did it. I made boys’ underwear (or unds as we call them in our house). I couldn’t resist after I saw this:
May be if the top of the tights wasn’t white, I wouldn’t have seen it.
I made them about 3 months ago and have only used them once so far, this week when I ran out of clean unds for my Joshie boy. So these are my go to unds, but they sure work in a pinch! Just don’t tell him, ok?
This tutorial can take 3 minutes or less if you have all your sewing gear out and ready to go.
The Materials:
- old tights
- scissors
- sewing machine
- matching thread
The Directions:
- Cut the legs off of the tights.
- Sew a zig zag stitch all the way around the bottom of the legs. I like to reinforce the stitches by going around twice.
“Sew easy”, I mean, “so easy”!!
Did you want to try to make headbands out of the tights now?

I have done this for years, but not just boy’s under wear. When the leg part of the leggings is torn (almost always the knee) I cut them off, add a touch of lace (from my scraps) and my little now has some new panties.
