On Friday I continued with my work on the kettlebell snatches for reps. I’m working toward completing upwards of 100 snatches in under five minutes. I chased my snatch training with about 15-20 minutes of yoga stretching. Here’s what I did:
Workout:
9 minute countdown:
6 kettlebell snatches – Left
6 kettlebell snatches – Right
That means that when the second hand hits zero, I’m doing six snatches left, six right. It felt pretty good. To finish, I did the stretching I mentioned.
You may be wondering how I can get excited about yoga stretching when it’s so commonly associated with Eastern mysticism and meditation. Well, I just do the poses without the meditation. I’m usually too busy listening to a message on my computer or iPhone to meditate anyway. There’s no disputing the physiological benefits to the poses. They are good medicine for sore muscles, help recovery and increase mobility and flexibility. It happens that many of the poses I like are distinctive to yoga, but not all. I say, give it a shot.
