Snatch Practice and Some Bodyweight Strength Training

On Monday morning I continued my quest toward my Holy Grail of kettlbell training: 200 snatches in 10 minutes or less.  Here’s what I did this time: As many sets as possible of:

Five kettlebell snatches – Left

Five kettlebell snatches – Right

I shortened up the reps this time to see how long I could go with minimal rest.  It was a telling assessment, as I did four sets, (40 snatches), three sets (30 snatches) and three sets (30 snatches).  I snuck in a couple more on each side (4 snatches) for a total of 104 in five minutes.  I was a bit disappointed as I could have gone harder; I rested probably more than I needed to.  But regardless, it was interesting to net approximately the same number of reps with shorter sets.  I really lose time when changing hands and resting.  I still have a long way to go.

After resting for a couple of hours, I did 10 rounds of the following for some strength work with slow, controlled reps:

5 pull-ups

10 pushups

15 squats

Good stuff.  I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
