The Money Answer

Thrifty Thinking:

The Money Answer

When I was gone for the weekend I was able to look through and read Dave Ramsey’s The Money Answer Book.   This is a great book especially for those who are trying to begin getting their finances in order.  I also loved how the book was short (like me =)) and really easy to understand.  He took many frequently asked questions and answered them in clear and concise ways.

Dave Ramsey says that contentment brings peace…financial peace.  This is a HUGE, HUGE concept!  We want, want, want!  Fire never says “enough.”  Our desire for more is never satisfied.  We get what we want; we are satisfied for a moment, and then we want more.  If you “enjoy life now,” indulging and the like, you WILL pay for it later; there are consequences.  This should be in the back of your head when you are facing financial temptations and challenges.

On page 82 of The Money Answer Book, Zig Ziglar is quoted as saying, ”If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.”  We have to make goals so we know where we are going on our financial journey.  A budget directs you as to where your money goes rather than having you wonder where it went.  Don’t you want to know what is happening to your money?  You are the steward of your money, after all.  Are you honoring the Lord with your treasures?  Whether you are or not, this is a great resource.

  1. I couldn’t agree more about contentment bringing financial peace. Learning to love what God has given us and not constantly be pining for more makes such a huge difference.

Sounds like a good book. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Thanks for sharing at Thrifty Thursday! I’m finding as we budget and manage our money that true contentment (which leads to peace like you said), comes from the Lord and trusting His provision 🙂

  3. Hi! Found your blog through the purposeful mom link up 🙂 I’ve been writing about a very similar topic on my blog as well, although I haven’t read that book.

BLessings to you and your family 🙂
