I didn’t post my workouts from the week of July 16 because I was on the road quite a bit. I’ll just say quickly that I only worked out twice that week. I did the following circuit six times on Monday an four times on Wednesday:
- Double KB Front Squat (53# KB’s): 5 reps
- One-arm pushups – 2 reps left
- One-arm pushups – 2 reps right
- Double KB Swings (53# KB’s): 10 reps
It was great. I did Monday’s workout at a rest area and Wednesday’s on my parents’ back deck. One great thing about KB’s and bodyweight movements is that they can be done just about anywhere.
Anyway, I was traveling a lot but was still able to squeeze in a couple of workouts.
On to last week (the week of July 23). I was at a church retreat and packed my two 53# bells. Here’s what I did:
Monday (7/23)
Basketball pick-up games. Afterward I tried to do some squats and presses, but I we pretty fatigued after basketball, so I called it a day with just the basketball.
Tuesday (7/24)
Five rounds:
Double KB Squat and Press (53# KB’s): 4-6 repsFive rounds: 20 KB swings (53# KB)
Wednesday (7/25)
Rest. Ah….
Thursday (7/26)
Five rounds:
Double KB Squat and Press (53# KB’s): 4-6 reps
I really like this exercise because it’s so all-encompassing. It’s great for building strong legs, shoulder and lower back, all in one movement. But be warned: it takes a lot of blood and oxygen, so the heart works pretty hard.
Friday (7/27)
Ten rounds:
Double KB Front Squat (53# KB’s): 4 reps
1-arm pushup Left: 1 rep
1-arm pushup Right: 1 rep
So I really kept it simple this week, but I feel good about what I was able to get in. Nothing fancy, but still staying after it.
