Time for another installment in the list of my fifteen favorite workouts, and we come again to the kettlebell snatch. Read on for another workout and my personal opinions on this fantastic lift.
The Workout
10-minute Countdown: Kettlebell Snatch – 10 reps Left, 10 reps Right.
How I Do It
The idea here is to go with a lighter bell and go for speed and endurance, which is why I do this one with a 40# bell. My goal is to be able to do this one with a 53# bell, but I’m not quite there yet.
So, I warm up with some jumping jacks, light snatches, deep squats and pushups. Then I push start on my timer and go.
Explanation
The Snatch is commonly referred to as the “Czar of Kettlebell Lifts,” and for good reason. I’ve been into fitness for about four years, and I’ve just never been able to find a single movement that can rival the kettlebell snatch in terms of its demands on both strength and stamina. Favorite Fifteen #12 involved doing heavy snatches, which is brutal, and a great, great way to develop strength endurance for when I pick up a lighter weight. But when looking to develop stamina, speed and power, going with a lighter bell and going with longer sets is a good way to go.
